Snow in the Nebrodi mountains

Plowing through the snow

Etna is such a spectacular mountain with it’s unique environment that we easily forget the beauty of the Nebrodi mountain range. We were wondering where to drive to this morning and decided to go the opposit side of Etna and drive to the Malabotta forest high up the Nebrodi range which was snow covered. Reaching the crest of the mountain range, our Subaru was snow plowing and we had to turn around before reaching the forest as the fresh snow was too high. The light was beautiful and the view by moments spectacular. After an hour of hiking around the big boulders we returned to the car as Arturo was getting cold and uncomfortable.
The solitude and nature are special and we will sure come back here to go x-country telemarking.
